<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2018/news/09/15/20180915-ompong.jpg"/></figure></div><p>MANILA—The storm signal in some provinces that bore the brunt of Typhoon Ompong&#x27;s wrath was further downgraded to No. 2 late Saturday, as the weather disturbance left the country and set its sights for Hong Kong. </p><p>In its 11 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said Ompong was last spotted 395 kilometers west of Calayan town, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 145 km per hour and gusts of up to 180 kph.</p><p>The typhoon, the strongest so far to hit the country this year, left the Philippine area of responsibility at 9 p.m. and continues to move west northwest at a speed of 25 kph.</p><p>The following typhoon warning signals remain hoisted over these areas:</p><div><strong>SIGNAL NO. 2</strong></div><ul>	<li>Ilocos Norte</li>	<li>Ilocos Sur</li>	<li>La Union</li>	<li>Batanes</li></ul><div><strong>SIGNAL NO. 1</strong></div><ul>	<li>Bataan</li>	<li>Cagayan including Babuyan group of islands</li>	<li>Abra</li>	<li>Apayao</li>	<li>Kalinga</li>	<li>Mountain Province</li>	<li>Ifugao</li>	<li>Benguet</li>	<li>Pangasinan</li>	<li>Zambales</li></ul><p>Ompong will also continue to enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat), expected to bring scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains over Western Visayas and MIMAROPA. </p><p>The typhoon left a trail of devastation in northern Luzon, bringing down communication and power lines, ripping roofs off homes, damaging other structures and destroying crops. </p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/09/15/18/ompong-topples-power-lines-rips-off-roofs-in-northern-luzon">Ompong topples power lines, rips off roofs in Northern Luzon</a></li></ul>
