Search and rescue operations are ongoing in Barangay Bakakeng, where some roads remain covered with soil and debris. Vehicles of some residents of a subdivision were also submerged in thick mud.

Twenty-five people were killed in Northern Luzon, due mostly to landslides, said Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino in separate interviews with DZMM and Agence France-Presse.

Several people were also injured across the Cordillera region, he said.

All storm signals were lowered on Sunday as Ompong, the strongest typhoon to hit the country this year, churned towards Hong Kong. Monsoon rains will persist over Luzon before the weather improves starting Monday, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
