A special mass was held at the Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan for Darwin Dormitorio, the 20-year old Philippine Military Academy cadet who died inside the barracks in Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City on September 18.

In a statement, the university said the entire Xavier Ateneo community was mourning his death and also extended its condolences to his family.

Dormitorio finished his Senior High School at Xavier University. Before entering the PMA last August, Dormitorio studied engineering at XU for two semesters.

Meanwhile, the Corpus Cristi School where Dormitorio spent his junior high school from 2012 to 2016, also posted a statement on social media.

"The entire Corpus Christi School community conveys the deepest sorrow and most sincere condolences to Darwin's parents and family," it stated.

The Philippine National Police on Friday confirmed that Dormitorio died from hazing.

Police said there are now three persons of interest in Dormitorio’s death with at least 20 individuals as witnesses.

"We seek for justice for Darwin’s death. We want officials from PMA to be held liable for allowing hazing inside the academy,” said Jovie Forteza, Dormitorio's aunt.

Forteza added the family will have Dormitorio’s remains cremated before bringing his ashes back to Cagayan de Oro on Sunday.
