Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has undergone booking procedures at the Makati police headquarters Tuesday after a Makati regional trial court issued a warrant for his arrest over the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.

Director Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office chief, said the booking procedures including the taking of mug shots are necessary so that Trillanes can post bail. He said he will accompany Trillanes to the Makati RTC for the posting of bail.

"I was tasked by Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde to supervise and oversee this to make sure that nothing untoward happens," he told radio DZMM.

"He can go home after this. His stay at the Senate was his own volition," he added.

Trillanes' lawyer Reynaldo Robles, however, said his client will go back to the Senate after posting bail.

Trillanes' arrest came after the Makati Regional Trial Court branch 150 issued the arrest warrant 21 days since President Duterte voided the former Navy officer's 2011 amnesty.

Diosfa Toledanes-Valencia, Makati RTC Branch 150 clerk of court, earlier said the court granted the arrest order after the senator failed to present a copy of his amnesty application.

"Clear naman po dito based on the findings, walang na present hard copy si Trillanes of the amnesty application," she told reporters.

"Other exhibits presented had no probative value," she added.
