MANILA - Palace Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Thursday shrugged off a call of a lawmaker for him to resign, saying it is par for the course in a democratic society.
Rep. Salvador Belaro Jr. of 1-Ang Edukasyon party-list called on Andanar to resign and “take the cue” from resigned Palace communications assistant secretary Mocha Uson.
Belaro said Andanar should “take moral and command responsibility for the numerous failings of the PCOO (Presidential Communications Operations Office) and agencies under his jurisdiction.”
Andanar does not seem to be affected too much by Belaro’s call for his resignation, saying such is normal in a democratic society.

“Well, alam mo naman ito ay demokrasya. 'Yung mga congressman natin, mga senador o kahit na private individual ay puwedeng manawagan na magbitiw ang isang tao,” Andanar told GMA.
“Meron nga pinagbibitiw si Pangulo, eh ako pa, ‘di ba?”
Uson has been accused of spreading fake news and causing division within society with her Facebook posts.
The PCOO, meanwhile, has committed several blunders that have called into question the quality of Andanar’s leadership.
