CAGAYAN DE ORO – Three members of a family linked to the Ozamiz Criminal Group were arrested by the Martial Law Special Action Group after a raid in Barangay Bulua Monday.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency identified the suspects as Rico Bacon, his wife Annie and his brother-in-law Jun Toledo, who were accused of participating in the illegal drug trade in Ozamiz.

The raiding team members, who were able to secure a search warrant earlier, recovered P223,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 9 sachets, a 9mm pistol, and two hand grenades inside the residence of the Bacon family.

"The Bacon family has been in the target list of PDEA and Intelligence Unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. We have validated information that they are connected to the Ozamiz Criminal Group, particularly to the Parojinog family," said Adrian Alvariño, PDEA-10 regional director.

Bacon denied owning the confiscated items and refuted the allegation that he has links to the Parojinogs, who were slain in a police operation last July.

"I don't possess any drugs or grenade. I’m not even involved in any illegal activities," said Bacon.

The Bacon couple and Toledo will face charges on violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives.

The Martial Law Special Action Group in Mindanao is composed of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
