<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img alt="PAGASA photo" src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/life/10/12/20221012-pagasa-photo.jpg"/><figcaption>This PAGASA photo shows the location of Tropical Depression Maymay at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday.</figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATED) </strong>— Tropical depression Maymay will weaken into a remnant low as it approaches the Luzon landmass, PAGASA said Wednesday, as it monitored two other weather disturbances. </p><p>Maymay, as of 4 p.m., was last located 180 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and up to 55 kph gusts, said the weather bureau. </p><p>It was moving westward at 10 kph.</p><p>&quot;This tropical depression is forecast to deteriorate into a remnant low within the next 12 hours,&quot; PAGASA said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. </p><p>A remnant low no longer has the characteristics required for a tropical cyclone, according to the US National Hurricane Center. </p><p>PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the following areas, where 39 to 61 kph winds are expected within 36 hours:</p><ul>	<li>the eastern portion of Isabela (San Mariano, Dinapigue, San Guillermo, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, San Agustin, Palanan, Divilacan, Jones, Maconacon, Tumauini, Echague, Cabagan)</li>	<li>the eastern portion of Quirino (Maddela, Nagtipunan, Aglipay, Saguday)</li>	<li>the northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dilasag, Dipaculao)</li></ul><p>PAGASA said moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will lash Cagayan, the northern portion of Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao on Wednesday through early Thursday morning. </p><p>Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, it added.</p><div><strong>OTHER WEATHER DISTURBANCES </strong></div><p>PAGASA is monitoring another tropical depression outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and a low pressure area (LPA) over the West Philippine Sea. </p><p>The tropical depression was 1,980 kilometers east of northern Luzon at 10 a.m. It could enter the PAR on Thursday and intensify into a tropical storm the following day, PAGASA said. </p><p>The weather agency said it could raise wind signal number 2 over Batanes and several provinces in northern Luzon.
