MANILA (UPDATE) — Rescuers on Wednesday recovered the bodies of 2 children from the site of a landslide in Baguio City, days after the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Maring.

Police identified the victims as Judy Rose Tulipas, 12, and Thalia Kasidee Ocampo, 4. Two dogs were also found buried together with the children.

Authorities earlier retrieved the body of the children's grandfather, who was also trapped inside the house on Dominican Hill due to the mudslide. He was identified as Alfred Ocampo.

Using a life detector device, rescuers found one of the dogs, named Jerwin, alive.

Nearly a hundred rescue personnel were deployed at the site after authorities resumed search and rescue operations Wednesday, combing through a massive mud pile to hunt for signs of life.

They battled the slippery slope compounded with fog and occasional rain showers.

The victims' relative, Marjorie Ocampo, said they heard knocks under the rubble Tuesday morning while rescuers were digging the deep mud.

In a TeleRadyo interview Wednesday, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said 9 incidents of landslides were reported in the city due to the effects of the severe tropical storm.

Baguio City Police Director Glenn Lonogan said police warned residents in the area to evacuate due to a potential landslide should a heavy downpour occur.

As of Tuesday, eleven people were reported to have died after the onslaught of Maring, the country's disaster monitoring agency said.

Seven were also reported missing while 3 were injured due to the storm, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council had said.
