MANILA - The Supreme Court has reprimanded Manila Times senior reporter Jomar Canlas over a 2016 article on the supposed bribe attempt on high court justices, its spokesman said Tuesday.

"The court decided to unanimously severely reprimand and issue a stern warning to Mr. Jomar Canlas for a news report which he wrote in relation to the court’s decision on the citizenship of Sen. Grace Poe," SC public information office chief Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka told reporters.

In an article published March 8, 2016, Canlas wrote about the alleged P50-million per justice bribe offer allegedly made by persons "very close" to the administration party, Liberal Party (LP).

Canlas' article attributed the story to several sources and was published as headline story on the front page of the newspaper.

The article said the alleged offer was declined by several justices, but it was not mentioned how many and who the justices were.

The high court decided on Poe's case on March 8, upholding her qualifications to run for President in the May elections and reversing her disqualification by the Commission on Elections.
