Magnitude-4.2 quake hits CamSur; some property damage expected

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img alt="Magnitude-4.2 quake hits CamSur" src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2021/news/10/17/20211017-camsur-quake.jpg?ext=.jpg"/></figure></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>—A magnitude-4.2 earthquake jolted Camarines Sur province Sunday night, the Phivolcs said.</p><p>The tremor, recorded at 6:51 p.m., was located 5 kilometers southeast of Canaman town, according to state seismologists.</p><p>It was tectonic in origin with a depth of 4 kilometers.</p><p>Intensity V, which Phivolcs classifies as strong shaking, was felt in Canaman town, while Intensity IV was felt in Calabanga town.</p><p>The following instrumental intensities were also recorded:</p><ul>	<li>Intensity V - Sipocot, Camarines Sur</li>	<li>Intensity II - Mercedes, Camarines Norte; Iriga City, Camarines Sur</li>	<li>Intensity I - Daet, Camarines Norte</li></ul><p>No aftershocks were expected, but there may be some damage due to the quake, the Phivolcs added in its advisory.</p><p>A CCTV video footage from the Matubis family in Barangay Poblacion in Libmanan town showed how strong the quake was.</p><p>Rafael Matubis said they were having a meal when the earthquake hit.</p><p>&quot;Kumakain kami that time tapos biglang lumindol. Talagang gumalaw yung lahat ng gamit sa bahay. Nakakatakot. May maririnig kang sound sa ilalaim na parang kulog tapos tiningnan ko agad yung CCTV namin right after ng lindol tapos dun kita talaga kung gaano kalakas yung lindol,&quot; he said.</p><p>(We were eating at that time when the earthquake happened. Everything in our house moved. It was scary. There are two areas in Bicol region affected by the Philippine fault, one in Masbate, another in Camarines Sur towards Albay.
