Houses were damaged as heavy rains and strong winds pounded the province of Apayao.

APAYAO - Several villages in the province of Apayao remained isolated Thursday in the aftermath of the onslaught of super typhoon Lawin.

The tropical cyclone made landfall in Cagayan on Wednesday evening, and hit Apayao and Ilocos Norte before exiting the Philippine area of responsibility.

Roads leading to villages in Pudtol town remained impassable after the Apayao River overflowed.

About 6,665 individuals were evacuated. No casualties were reported in the low-lying towns of Flora, Pudtol, Sta. Marcela and Luna.

The provinces felt the wrath of the super typhoon, with its agriculture being badly hit. Crops like rice, corn and banana were totally damaged.

Despite having no power in the province, families that evacuated are coming back to their homes.

Meanwhile, relief goods have been delivered to several villages.
