MANILA (UPDATE)—The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) on Saturday will again accept applications for medical financial assistance on Monday, Nov. 18, after it was stopped due to a recent fraud attempt.

The PAGCOR said it will strengthen its cooperation with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), where walk-in requests should be submitted for endorsement.

"Under the arrangement, PAGCOR will be able to tap the assistance of PCSO, which has more human and organizational resources and experience in processing requests for medical assistance," the PAGCOR said in a statement.

The charity agency will issue a "PCSO guarantee letter" if the application is verified.

Authorities earlier arrested a couple who attempted to defraud the PAGCOR by submitting fake documents for fictitious medical cases.

The suspects, arrested by Manila police in an entrapment operation, are facing charges of falsification of public documents.

The state-run gaming corporation reiterated its warning against using bogus documents for cash scams.
