MANILA - The MRT-3 on Saturday broke its longest "no unloading" streak in 7 years, just a day after announcing that it had set a new record of 31 days.

The Department of Transportation said a northbound train unloaded passengers at the Buendia station at 1:10 p.m. due to electrical failure.

The whole train, carrying around 650 passengers, were offloaded.

The incident came a day after the MRT announced its new longest "no unloading" streak since 2011.

Glitches at the train line have become commonplace in recent years with unloading incidents recorded every now and then.

The DOTr earlier this month said gradual improvements in the train line's operations could be felt by the third quarter of 2019 following Japan's commitment to fund the MRT's rehabilitation.
