MANILA - The Philippines expects to sign at least 3 agreements with South Korea when President Rodrigo Duterte meets with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Monday afternoon, an envoy said Sunday.Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Noe Albano Wong said the agreements were still being finalized, but the Department of Foreign Affairs earlier revealed that both governments are looking to sign deals on education, tourism, social security and fisheries.Both leaders are expected to discuss a wide spectrum of issues during the meeting, which will include education, free trade and fisheries, Wong said.<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en">Happening now: Briefing with PCOO Sec Martin Andanar and Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-man on PRRD’s participation to the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit <a href="https://t.co/WQCHGsbJ61">pic.twitter.com/WQCHGsbJ61</a>— Pia Gutierrez (@pia_gutierrez) <a href="https://twitter.com/pia_gutierrez/status/1198466519811801094?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 24, 2019</a></blockquote><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script>President Duterte is set to fly to South Korea Sunday afternoon to participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations - Republic of Korea (ASEAN-ROK) Commemorative Summit from November 25-26, 2019.He will join President Moon and other ASEAN leaders in at least two plenary sessions on November 26, which will focus on connectivity and on charting the course of relations between ASEAN and South Korea.They will also have a lunch retreat in the afternoon, where leaders will discuss regional and global issues. The denuclearization of North Korea will be among the issues tackled during the summit, Wong said.“Peace and order situation in the Korean Peninsula is intertwined with other regions, more so with Southeast Asia,” Wong said. According to the DFA, the Summit will come out with 2 documents: The ASEAN-ROK joint vision statement for peace, prosperity, and partnership; and the co-chairs’ statement on the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit.
