Jorge Cariño, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA - The Philippines&#x27; first warship from South Korea has started sea trial, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Tuesday.Lorenzana, who accompanied President Rodrigo Duterte on his trip to the Korean port city of Busan, said BRP Jose Rizal is already out in South Korean waters for testing and would likely be delivered to Manila by May next year.&quot;Hindi naman &#x27;yan pang-offensive, pang-defensive &#x27;yan,&quot; Lorenzana told reporters in Busan.(That will be used for defense, and not for offense.)BRP Rizal is the first combat ship designed and acquired for the Philippine Navy as part of the Frigate Acquisition Project, which started in May 2013, to modernize the Armed Forces of the Philippines.Another warship, BRP Luna, meanwhile is expected to be delivered to the Philippines by December 2020. Both frigates were designed and built by Hyundai Heavy Industries.<div>NEW CORVETTES</div>The Philippines is also planning to buy 2 new corvettes from South Korea that can be used for patrolling local waters, Lorenzana said.&quot;Puwede natin pang-patrol sa Misibis Sea, sa Sulu Sea,&quot; he said.(We can use them for patrols in the Misibis Sea, in Sulu Sea.)Lorenzana said Manila is still working out the P25-billion deal for the corvettes with Seoul, which he expects would be signed next month.&quot;If they can give us generous financing that we can pay maybe in a period of 3 to 5 years later on, siguro gagawin nila yung corvettes natin,&quot; he said.
