2 buses transporting SEA Games delegates figure in NLEX accident

MANILA (UPDATE)—Two buses carrying foreign delegates to the 30th Southeast Asian Games figured in an accident on their way to the opening ceremonies in Bulacan Saturday afternoon.

The buses were plying the North Luzon Expressway when the accident happened in Bocaue area about 4:25 p.m.

According to police report, one bus was carrying 40 delegates from Laos, while the other was transporting 42 Vietnamese delegates.

A still undetermined number of passengers was reportedly hurt while others were offloaded at Philippine Arena, where the opening ceremonies will take place Saturday night.

The case is under investigation, police said.

About 5,500 athletes and thousands of spectators are expected to flock to the arena in Bulacan to witness the opening ceremonies set to start at 7 p.m.
