MANILA - (UPDATED) The University of the Philippines Board of Regents withdrew its recommendation for the reappointment of Regent Frederick &quot;Spocky&quot; Farolan following the statements he made online about the UAAP men&#x27;s basketball finals match.In a statement on Monday, the UP board also apologized to the men&#x27;s basketball team of Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) for &quot;any anxiety&quot; that Farolan may have caused, which it said dampened the euphoria of UP reaching the finals for the first time in 32 years.&quot;Committed to a higher standard of accountability for its members, the Board hereby withdraws its recommendation for the reappointment of Regent Farolan to the Board of Regents,&quot; the Board of Regents said.UP Vice President for Public Affairs Dr. Jose Dalisay, however, clarified that Farolan&#x27;s re-appointment will still depend on President Rodrigo Duterte.&quot;&#x27;Yung kaniya pong appointment ay depende po kay President Duterte &#x27;yun... The president can appoint anyone he deems qualified for the position,&quot; he told DZMM Teleradyo.&quot;We can only recommend.
