MANILA - The father of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) junior high school student who was caught on video punching and kicking his schoolmate is not a police officer, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde told reporters Monday.

“Hindi po totoo na ang father nung bully na 'yun ay pulis,” Albayalde said.

This, after former Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary Rafael Alunan accused the father of the student of being a "police scalawag".

PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Benigno Durana Jr. said the student's father is a member of the medical community.

Albayalde appealed to parents to teach their children good manners and right conduct.

“Sana itong mga bully na ito turuan ng mga magulang ng good manners and right conduct. Ito rin siguro ang isang nakakalungkot kung bakit sa mga schools ay wala na 'yung subjects na GMRC. When we were young merong subject na ganyan. Respect for the elders lalo na,” Albayalde said.

“Napakaimportante po nito. You could just imagine kung ganiyan pa rin 'yan sa bully eh baka mamaya maging pulis pa yan hindi ba. Napakadelikado hindi ba,” he added.

Based on PNP monitoring, Albayalde said around 75 social media accounts were registered under the name of the Ateneo student involved in the bullying incident.

“I hope someday, that person, that bully makakatugma din yan, makakatapat din 'yan 'yung mga bully na ganiyan,” Albayalde said.

Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) on Sunday said it has kicked out the said student.

The PNP said it has not received any formal complaint regarding the bullying incident.

However, the parents of one Ateneo junior high student who was bullied by his schoolmate have filed a blotter report regarding the incident, police said Friday.

The PNP said is open to providing security to the family of the dismissed Ateneo student, if they request for it, after they received numerous threats on social media.
