Senator Imee Marcos has welcomed the Sandiganbayan decision junking the government’s ill-gotten wealth case against her family but said the “long delay” has been “very difficult and painful.”
“It’s been 38 years coming and we are very pleased by the result although the long delay of case has been very difficult and painful for my family,” she said.
“Napakatagal eh. Nagpapasalamat ako pero napaka tagal naman, 38 years naman naghintay at alam naman natin, kulang kulang 'yung katibayan.”
The Sandiganbayan dismissed the P276-million wealth forfeiture case against the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and their alleged crony Roman Cruz due to "inordinate delay."

"In its Comment, the plaintiff did not argue against the averment of the defendants about inordinate delay and due process violation. It did not oppose the move of the defendants to dismiss the case. In fact, the plaintiff tends to agree with the dismissal of the case when it emphasized that there are no more allegations against the estate of Marcos," the Sandiganbayan added.
