Malacanang on Thursday said classes in all levels and work in government offices in Manila and Pasay City are suspended on October 14 and October 15.

The memorandum was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the APMCDRR is the main platform in Asia and the Pacific to monitor, review and enhance cooperation for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai Framework) at the regional level.

"It will bring together governments, intergovernmental, international, national and civil society organizations, the private sector, science, "academia and stakeholder groups to accelerate progress in reducing disaster risk," the UN OCHA said. "As the first regional platform since the adoption of the Political Declaration of the Sendai Framework Midterm Review, the APMCDRR 2024 will provide an important opportunity to review risk reduction efforts, share innovative solutions and make actionable commitments to accelerate disaster risk reduction (DRR) by 2030 in the world’s most disaster-prone region."

On October 15, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) will be co-hosting an event in the Philippine Pavilion entitled “From the ground up: Prototyping Anticipatory Action from a Community and Grassroots perspective in the Philippines”.
