MANILA — Magdalo party-list led by its first nominee Gary Alejano is eyeing to return to the House of Representatives in 2025 following their failed bid in 2022.

Founded in 2010, Magdalo party-list seeks to represent, mainly, retired uniformed personnel.

Alejano admitted that the group had shortcomings in the last election, but the main culprit for their loss, they believed, was the "fake news" propagated by the Duterte administration against them.

"Malaking factor ang pag-demonize sa amin sa public, tuloy-tuloy yan... Pero ang nakikita natin ngayon, dahan-dahang nalalantad sa publiko ang mga kasinungalingan ni Rodrigo Duterte," Alejano said.

Alejano was the lawmaker who filed the first impeachment complaint against Duterte in 2017. However, the move to oust Duterte, who remained popular until his final days in office, never took off.

Asked if the group would initiate a similar complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte if they win in 2025, Alejano said it was "highly possible."

"Kung mananalo at sa nakikita ko pong mga violations against the Constitution, malaki ang posibilidad na maghahain po ang ng impeachment [ang Magdalo] against the vice president," he said.
