Comelec to release COCs, CONAs of applicants running in 2025 polls

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Sunday it is releasing to the public the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) and Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) of those running for office in the 2025 elections.According to the Commission, they decided to release the documents in their website for the public to scrutinize the candidates.&quot;Ilalabas natin ang lahat ng mga COC ng 44,000 na kandidato sa Pilipinas. At the same time, &#x27;yung mga CONA ng mga partylist nominees ay atin ding ilalabas sa website ng Comelec upang malaman nila kung sino ba &#x27;yang tumatakbo na &#x27;yan,&quot; Comelec Chairman  George Erwin Garcia said in TeleRadyo Serbisyo&#x27;s Story Outlook.This will be the first time in the country&#x27;s history that the poll body would release the COCs and CONAs of applicants.Garcia added that with this move, the public may be able to help the Comelec discover possible grounds for disqualification in the applicants.&quot;Ang Comelec di namin kakilala ang lahat [ng tumatakbo]. Kikilos kami kung mayroon ding  responding action ang mamamayan. Katulad ng nangyari sa Bamban. Nung una nasisi kami bakit daw hindi namin dinisqualify, eh syempre hindi naman namin kilala lahat ng tumatakbo sa buong Pilipinas,&quot; Garcia said.&quot;Kaya&#x27;t kakailanganin na ang mga kababayan natin na magparticipate sa mga pagtutol o hindi pagsang-ayon sa mismong kandidato,&quot; he continued.The poll body chief also encouraged the public to learn more about the candidates so that they would be sure who they are voting for.&quot;Sana po &#x27;yung mga kababayan natin ay titingnan din nila &#x27;yung mga ilalabas  nating listahan.
