MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday ordered government agencies to prepare for more widespread flooding ahead of Tropical Storm Kristine’s expected landfall Wednesday night, as he noted that the worst of the storm's effects have yet to come.

Marcos convened the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday to coordinate the government’s response to the typhoon, which has already brought unprecedented rains and catastrophic flooding to the Bicol region.

The President meanwhile directed agencies to ensure that residents are given ample warnings and that contingencies are in place in areas expected to be affected by the Typhoon.
