MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has deployed composite teams to strategic locations across the country to provide immediate assistance to motorists and enhance travel safety during this year's Undas.

The DPWH said it is taking proactive measures to ensure safer travel for the anticipated wave of holiday travelers, especially on All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said Lakbay Alalay Motorists Assistance Stations will operate from 8 a.m. on October 31 until 5 p.m. on November 2, 2024.

The DPWH Lakbay Alalay Teams, composed of uniformed personnel and field crews, will work in rotating shifts at key sites to offer 24/7 support to travelers.
Simultaneously, regional and district engineering offices are performing routine maintenance on roads leading to cemeteries and churches, ensuring potential hazards are addressed before the influx of visitors.
The department also said it has initiated extensive cleanup and repair efforts on national roads and bridges affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

The DPWH has instructed project teams involved in ongoing construction along major thoroughfares to modify their schedules, directing them to focus on installing road safety signage and traffic advisories to help alleviate congestion and mitigate the risk of accidents during the holidays.
