MANILA — Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor of Caloocan City on Thursday.

His running-mate is former councilor PJ Alonzo.

According to Trillanes, he was born and raised in Barangay 169 in North Caloocan and is ready to serve the people of the city.

Trillanes said his track record in fighting corruption would be his advantage against his rival, incumbent Mayor Along Malapitan.

“Ang layunin po natin ay maiahon ang ating mga kababayan mula sa kahirapan at ayusin ang samu’t saring problema ng aming lungsod. Ito ay bagong hamon sa aking buhay being a public servant pero ito po ay nararapat at napapanahon,” Trillanes said.

“In the coming months, we will be very intense as we try to dismantle a corrupt political dynasty who is determined to hold on to Caloocan,” he added.

Trillanes said he had "faced much more difficult challenges before," including when he won in the 2007 elections from behind bars.

"We hope to reignite that same enthusiasm and excitement dito sa amin,” he said.

Trillanes promised to make Caloocan one of the most business-friendly cities to encourage businessmen to invest and create more jobs.
