MANILA — Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman George Garcia said former Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano can still avail of remedies after the Comelec’s Election Registration Board (ERB) in Taguig denied his voter transfer request.

“It’s premature to answer po. May mga remedies pa na puwede siya ma-avail hence, its improper to speculate at this point,” Garcia told reporters in a message.

Cayetano, a former Taguig mayor, is aiming for a political comeback as Taguig 1st district representative. He was a former 2nd district representative.

He was attempting to transfer to the first district of Taguig-Pateros, but Taguig's ERB found insufficient evidence of Cayetano's residency in Pacific Residences, citing discrepancies in address and lack of proper ID.

It said Cayetano would remain registered in Barangay Fort Bonifacio.
