Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/FileMANILA -- The Commission on Elections' first and second divisions have declared 47 senatorial aspirants for the 2025 midterm polls as nuisance candidates.

Comelec chairman George Garcia on Monday said the poll body's two divisions are expected to decide on the fates of more aspirants. Its law department had earlier recommended that 117 aspirants for senatorial posts be declared as nuisance candidates.

"Division po kasi ang naglalabas ng cancellation ng kanilang candidacy at pagdedeklara ng  pagiging nuisance nila," said Garcia. "Pwede pa sila mag-file ng motion for reconsideration sa ating commission en banc."

"Kung anuman ang magiging desisyon ng commission en banc, yan ay magiging final and executory maliban na lang kung kami ay i-TRO ng Kataas-taasang Hukuman. Ibig sabihin may remedyo pa rin po naman ang 47 na yan," he added.

The Comelec First Division declared the following aspirants as nuisance candidates:

The poll body targets to resolve cases declaring nuisance candidates including at the local level before the end of November.

"Pinapanindigan natin na (sa) katapusan ng Nobyembre dapat may resolusyon ang Comelec hindi lang sa division namin kundi sa en banc para lang maging maayos, malinis ang listahan pagdating ng buwan ng Disyembre," said Garcia.

The Comelec in October released a partial, initial list of senatorial candidates for the 2025 elections, which includes detained pastor Apollo Quiboloy and 65 others.
