Vice President Sara Duterte was seen approaching and checking on her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, as the marathon hearing of the House quad-committee reached late night on Wednesday (November 13).

Sara appeared to urge her father to rest, which was noticed by the the joint panel's lead chairperson Rep. Ace Barbers.

"If you'd like to rest, we can excuse you," Barbers offered.

The elder Duterte told the quad-committee that he could stay on for several more hours, even as late as 2 a.m. At that point, Barbers decided to suspend the hearing to approach Duterte.

During the break, the vice president was seen handing her father food to eat, while their team discussed with panel members whether the former chief executive could continue with his participation.

Despite the session being suspended, Duterte used his microphone to address the quad-committee. He expressed his intention to take part in the investigation even for five or 10 more days.

He reiterated that, since he is based in Davao City, traveling to Manila can be costly, so he would prefer to maximize his stay and answer questions "till kingdom come."

Resuming the session, Barbers explained to Duterte: "Inaalala lang po namin ang inyong health. Ito naman po ay hindi ang una at huling hearing na gagawin natin. We wanted to make sure na kayo po ay healthy."

His co-chairperson Rep. Dan Fernandez added that the offer to let him rest was in deference to Sara's request. "Concerned lang po siya sa kalusugan po ninyo. That's the reason why the chairman decided to let you go," he said.

"Vice president lang naman, 'di naman siya presidente!" Duterte quipped.

Upon Duterte's insistence to stay, Barbers decided to proceed with the probe, still with the former president in attendance.
