Super Typhoon Pepito as of 5:10 p.m. on November 17, 2024. Handout/DOST-PAGASAMANILA -- Super Typhoon Pepito [international name: Man-yi] made landfall in Dipaculao, Aurora on Sunday afternoon putting three large areas in Northern Luzon under Tropical Cyclone Wind No. 5.

PAGASA said that after making landfall in the vicinity of Dipaculao at 3:20 p.m., Pepito will cross the northern portion of Central Luzon and the southern portion of Northern Luzon via the upland regions of the Sierra Madre, Caraballo, and Cordillera Central between Sunday afternoon and evening.

In its 5:00 p.m. weather bulletin issued on Sunday, November 17, PAGASA said the eye of 'Pepito' was located in the vicinity of Nagtipunan, Quirino.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 305 kph. Pepito is moving northwestward at 25 kph.

Under TCWS No. 5 are:

• The central portion of Aurora (Dipaculao, Baler, Dinalungan, Maria Aurora, Casiguran, San Luis), 
• The southern portion of Quirino (Nagtipunan)
• The southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Norte Dupax del Sur, Kasību, Aritao, Bambang) 

The said areas will experience wind speeds of 185 km/h or higher capable of extreme threat to life and property.

• The southern portion of lfugao (Klangan, Lamut, Tinoc, Asipulo, Lagawe), Benguet

• The northern portion of Nueva Ecija (Gabaldon, Laur, Bongabon, Pantabangan, Rizal, General Mamerto Natividad, Lupao, San Jose City, Llanera, Carranglan, Science City of Muñoz, Talugtug, Cuyapo). PAGASA said Pepito is expected to exit the landmass of Luzon Sunday night or Monday early morning.

During this period, it will significantly weaken due to land interaction. It will continue moving generally west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea tomorrow.

It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Monday morning or noon.
