<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/173199379922520241011-comelec-source-code-review-JC-1.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Comelec Chair George Garcia shows a sample of the electronic ballot during the Local Source Code Review of the Automated Election Systems (AES) at the Circuit Corporation One building in Makati city on October 11, 2024. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday kicked off its first national convention at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, with around 2,000 election officers participating in the 3-day event. </p><p>According to Comelec chairman George Erwin Garcia, the convention aims to update its personnel on guidelines and implementing regulations of the commission ahead of the 2025 elections.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/10/31/miru-finishes-manufacture-of-110-000-poll-counting-machines-for-2025-1249">• Miru finishes manufacture of 110,000 poll counting machines for 2025</a></div><p>“Kauna-unahan sa kasaysayan ng Comelec, meron kaming national convention ng lahat ng election officers sa buong Pilipinas, 2,000 lahat sila na andito upang bigyan ng mga kaalaman para sa gagawing halalan sa 2025,&quot; Garcia told ABS-CBN News.</p><p>Garcia said part of the convention is to teach election officers how to <span id="isPasted" style="caret-color:rgb(65, 65, 65);color:rgb(65, 65, 65)">properly</span> use automated counting machines (ACM) for the 2025 elections.</p><p>&quot;Paggamit ng mga bagong makina, updates patungkol sa mga proseso na ipatutupad natin sa halalan na 2025 so at the same time, first time na magkakakilala, magkakaharap-harap ang lahat ng election officers namin sa buong Pilipinas,&quot; the official said. </p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/3/comelec-social-media-and-ai-rules-do-not-police-campaign-content-939">• Comelec: Social media and AI rules do not police campaign content</a></div><p>&quot;Siyempre yung gagamiting makina ay kakaiba at yan ay madaming mga bagong features, at the same time madaming guidelines na kinakailangan nilang matutunan,&quot; he added.</p><p>Garcia said the commission was set to conduct a demonstration nationwide on how to use the ACM from December 2, 2024 to January 30, 2025.</p><p>The Commission will also conduct mock elections inside actual polling precincts to be participated by actual voters, Garcia added.  </p><div><strong>&#x27;MORE TRANSPARENT&#x27;</strong></div><p>With this new technology and new set of vote counting machines, Garcia said the elections would be more transparent.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/16/comelec-says-1st-field-testing-for-2025-elections-is-successful-1709">• COMELEC says 1st field testing for 2025 elections is &#x27;successful&#x27;</a></div><p>Poll watchdogs, the media and other stakeholders will be allowed to take photos or videos of the image from the ACM, according to Garcia.</p><p>“Maliban sa naka-transmit to all ang resulta sa PPCRV, sa NAMFREL, sa majority, minority party at sa media - may sari-sarili silang server. Papayagan namin silang mag-picture o mag-video sa mga picture image na yan. Ibig sabihin, kung ang bumoto sa maghapon ay 300 na botante, meron tayong 300 na images,” Garcia said.</p><p>Garcia, however, clarified that voters are prohibited from taking photos or videos of the voter receipt.</p><p>“May mabibigay po sa kanyang (voter) kopya ng resibo pero hindi pupuwedeng mailabas. Bakit?
