The NCRPO fully welcomes any investigation into this matter, as it will provide a great opportunity to prove the regularity and legality of our actions,&quot; he said.</span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr"><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/4/pnp-says-raid-on-malate-scam-hub-legitimate-despite-paocc-s-criticism-1614" id="isPasted" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/4/pnp-says-raid-on-malate-scam-hub-legitimate-despite-paocc-s-criticism-1614">PNP says raid on alleged Malate scam hub legitimate despite PAOCC’s criticism</a><br/></span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">The allegations arose following a recent raid targeting online scammers and illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) operations. </span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">The raid, which has been referred to as an operation against the &quot;mother of all scam hubs,&quot; was executed by the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group under cyber warrants.</span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">At least 69 foreigners were apprehended during the raid and later released, as they could not be legally detained.</span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">Four Chinese citizens sought assistance from the National Police Commission, claiming that their apprehension was illegal and that the operatives failed to inform them of their rights.</span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">They also accused the cops of trying to extort P1 million from each of them in exchange for a lawyer, as well as for their freedom.</span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">PNP spokesperson BGen. Jean Fajardo maintained the raid was legitimate.</span></span></div><div><span data-teams="true"><span dir="ltr">She said the security officers from the tower and barangay officials were present during the execution of the search warrant to ensure transparency.
