Donald Trump following his projected victory in the U.S. presidential elections.</div><p>In a statement, he said that the American people triumphed “which showed the world the strength of American values.”</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/world/2024/11/6/trump-wins-white-house-in-stunning-comeback-1843">READ: Trump wins White House in stunning comeback</a></div><p>The president noted that he looks forward to working with the soon-to-be president on various issues “that will yield mutual benefits to two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, common vision, and a long history of working together.”</p><p>“I am hopeful that this unshakeable alliance , tested in war and peace, will be a force of good  that  will blaze a path of prosperity and  amity, in the region, and in both sides of the Pacific,” Marcos said.</p><p>Marcos Jr. also described the Philippine-U.S. ties as a “durable partnership” which the Philippines is fully committed to, saying that the relationship is founded on shared ideals —freedom and democracy.</p><p>“I have personally met President Trump as a young man,  so I know that his robust leadership will result in a better future for all of us. Congratulations, President Trump!” Marcos said.</p><p>Trump, 78, defeated US Vice President Kamala Harris after one of the most hostile campaigns in modern US history. </p><p>His apocalyptic warnings about immigration and championing of isolationism found their mark with voters battered by the post-Covid economy and eager for a change from the Biden years.</p><p>The campaign pointed to a nail-bitingly close contest, but the results came surprisingly fast, delivering a crushing victory that included wins in the swing states of Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.</p><p>Trump is the first president in more than a century to win a non-consecutive second term.</p><p>He is also the only person to be elected as a convicted felon -- he will face sentencing in a New York court for fraud on November 26. -- <strong>with Agence France-Presse</strong></p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hsnpNAG9bkM?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
