MANILA — The Quezon City local government has issued a closure order to F.I.N.E Wellness Bar and Spa for operating despite its business application being put on hold.

The local government said a new business application under the name of F.I.N.E Wellness Bar and Spa was received by the Business Permits Licensing Office but was put on hold as authorities found out that it shares the address of F Club, which had already been issued a cease and desist order in August for refusing to cooperate with health authorities and contact tracing teams.

F Club has been identified several times as the possible place of exposure of confirmed mpox patients.

In a statement, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmote reiterated the importance of putting high value on public health.

“Kahit magpalit pa kayo ng business name, hindi namin kayo papayagang mag-operate hangga't hindi pa kayo compliant sa mga batas, ordinansa at regulasyon ng lungsod,” she said.

(Even if you change your business name, we will not let you operate as long as you are not compliant with the laws, ordinances and regulations of Quezon city)

6TH MPOX CASE

On Wednesday, the local government confirmed the detection of another mpox case in the city.

The patient is a 31-year-old male who tested positive for the virus after showing symptoms on October 18.

Case investigations by the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division of the Health Department found the patient visited F Club in early October.

The local government said it plans to hold a forum with different establishments likes spas and other wellness and entertainment establishments to address and curb the spread of mpox.

“Hindi namin hahayaan na marami pang QCitizen ang malagay sa panganib (We will not let more QCitizens be put in harm's way). Ensuring the safety and well-being of our QCitizens remains our primordial duty,” Belmonte said.
