MANILA - The House of Representatives has deployed a younger generation of lawmakers with a "message of love" for the Senate on Valentines' Day as they took their turn to front the chamber's charter change push.

This follows weeks bickering with senators who have accused House leaders of being behind the people's initiative to revise the 1987 charter.

The group who faced the media included Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, La Union 1st District Rep. Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V, Zambales 1st District Rep. Jefferson F. Khonghun, and Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino "Inno" A. Dy V .

The so-called "young guns" come from the current generation of House lawmakers who are under age 40 and who comprise the biggest bloc in the House in terms of age.

Speaking to media a day before Valentine's Day, the young lawmakers cited attacks from senators, specifically Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, whom they believe belittled congressmen.

"Valentine's day is almost here, I think we're celebrating every February, we're celebrating love , we're celebrating love but love goes two ways. It should not be one way, it should be reciprocated. Love is partnership. Love is humility, love is about sharing your life with another you put that context in the way the legislature is framed under the constitution we have 2 chambers in the House, House of Representatives and the Senate and the balance of that is parliamentary courtesy," Adiong said.

"In order for the love to thrive, put that in the context of the legislature, since we are celebrating Valentine's Day this February I hope he would be more humble enough to realize that your words can cut deeper than swords," Adiong added.

Adiong and Ortega denied that the House is bullying the Senate.

"Wala ho sa amin ang nambubully, kasi di ho mabully ang isang taong mas according to their logic mas superior kaysa sa iyo. I think it's not fair to say na ganoon ganoon lang," Adiong said.

"Mukha ba kaming bully? wala naman pong mukhang bully dito," Ortega said.
