MANILA -- Senator Robin Padilla's "written objection" on the contempt ruling of Senator Risa Hontiveros against Kingdom of Jesus Christ's Pastor Apollo Quiboloy met its March 12 deadline with only five senators signing the motion.

Padilla confirmed this in a Viber message Tuesday night as he acknowledged defeat in his attempt to save Quiboloy from possible Senate arrest and detention.

"Wala na po pag-asa ang 8 signatures," Padilla said when asked about the March 12 gathering of signatures deadline.

Aside from Padilla, the other four members of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality who signed the written objection are Senators Imee Marcos, Cynthia Villar, Christopher "Bong" Go, and Mark Villar.

"Tapos na po ang deadline. Kaya po kahapon ako po ay nag-privilege speech patungkol sa due process at show cause order," Padilla said.

Asked if he has already accepted his defeat, Padilla replied, "Oks lang yan."

"Hanggang may legal na paraan ay gagawin natin," Padilla added.
