Ranulfo Sevilla following allegations that he abused his wife and children.Mrs. Tessa Luz Aura Reyes Sevilla earlier said her husband did not deserve to be promoted as brigadier general of the Armed Forces in the Philippines (AFP) due to his refusal to provide for their children despite a court order. She also claimed that Sevilla had pushed, slapped and hit her during their marriage and even when she was pregnant. Their 12-year-old daughter recounted seeing Sevilla allegedly hit her mother and siblings and being whipped with a belt as punishment.Mrs. Sevilla said she previously filed a case of violence against women and children against Sevilla but that the prosecutor in Taguig “miraculously” dismissed the complaint.“That kind of person na nang-o-oppress ng tao lalo na ng mga kababaihan, ng mga nanay ng mga naging anak niya, ng mga batang inosente, hindi nya deserve ma-promote. No amount of sorry, no amount of money will make me back down. Nothing will make us back down. We deserve to be vindicated,” Mrs. Sevilla said.“Hindi mo deserve, hindi mo deserve na purihin ng publiko dahil isa kang taong (huwad). Mapagpanggap ka. Jardin Jesus Romualdo said a closed door executive session would be held to deliberate on the appointment of Sevilla and discuss his wife&#x27;s complaint.Sevilla declined to be interviewed by media. It &quot;regularly implements the Gender Based Violence Referral System, which signifies the Army’s commitment to gender equality and well-being of its soldiers and dependents,” Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala told reporters in a text message on Wednesday. “The Philippine Army enforces its gender policies and laws which promote women and girls’ access to safety and justice,” he added. Dema-ala said Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Roy Galido has told army personnel the value of the sanctity of a family. “They have a big impact in a soldiers’ professional development and personal outlook in life, especially towards his sworn duty to serve the people and the country,” Dema-ala stressed. He added that the Army cannot make further comments on the case of Sevilla since there is already an ongoing legal case against him.
