<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17104081771691710408214614.png" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><span contenteditable="true" id="isPasted" style="text-align:left">A viral poem helped local authorities in Baguio find the owner of a lost shoe. </span></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- Thanks to a viral poem, a lost shoe in the City of Pines found its way back to its &quot;Cinderella&quot;.</p><p>Baguio City&#x27;s Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) went the extra mile and penned a poem to find the owner of a black high-heeled shoe that authorities found at the O-shape overpass on Sunday.</p><p>Part of the poem uploaded on the POSD Facebook page reads: </p><div><em>&quot;A lone sole seeks its missing mate,</em></div><div><em>A crimson kiss upon its fate.</em></div><div><em>Four inches high, a daring stride,</em></div><div><em>Size forty-one, where could it hide?</em></div><div><em>Come, gentle lady, or perhaps a gent (size 41!),</em></div><div><em>Claim this lost treasure, heaven-sent.</em></div><div><em>For in our office, a story awaits,</em></div><div><em>Perhaps a prince Charming, to seal your fate.</em></div><p>Daryll Longid, head of Baguio POSD, said he wrote the poem <span id="isPasted" style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none">in a Cinderella-inspired way </span>to entice readers to find the owner of the shoe. </p><p>Longid admitted that he doesn&#x27;t typically write poems. But with the help of the internet, he managed to find inspiration. </p><p>He also resorted to AI at first but found the words it generated &quot;too flowery&quot; for his intended audience, so he had to take matters into his own hands. </p><p>&quot;I am sort of kind of familiar with what people look for kasi we manage a page so I pulled up examples of other poems and I have no experience. Zero.  I read several poems and may nakita akong trend, I followed it line per line. When I finished the first stanza and nakapag-rhyme ako ng lines, it&#x27;s actually easier kasi you don&#x27;t have to be distinctly grammatically correct,&quot; he said. </p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:750px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1710409365399shoe.jpg" style="width:750px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><span contenteditable="true" id="isPasted" style="text-align:left">A viral poem helped local authorities in Baguio find the owner of a lost shoe. </span></span></span></span></div><p>The owner, Nigerian national Pamela, later introduced herself at the city hall as the &quot;Cinderella&quot; they were looking for. </p><p>This inspired another poem on the<span id="isPasted" style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none"> Baguio POSD&#x27;s page, part of which reads: </span><br/><br/></p><div><em>Oh, lonesome slipper, thy owner we sought</em></div><div><em>Our dauntless pursuit was not for naught</em></div><div><em>At long last, the rightful claimant has come hither</em></div><div><em>To reunite the left to the right slipper</em></div><div><em>From lands afar, this maiden came</em></div><div><em>Beautiful Nigeria, a kingdom of fame</em></div><div><em>Mist-kissed Baguio, now her second home</em></div><div><em>A pilgrimage of knowledge, she&#x27;s pursuing alone</em></div><p><br/>Pamela came from church and swapped her heels for flats, not knowing that she dropped one shoe.  </p><p>&quot;Na-realize niya nung Sunday na nawala niya yung shoe pero she was too tired to look for it and eventually, on Tuesday somebody notified her,&quot; Longid said.</p><p>Pamela wasn&#x27;t the first &quot;Cinderella&quot; whom Baguio personnel helped. Another damsel in distress lost her shoe in the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/POSD2600/posts/pfbid0MGRSJA4sBXQKKAyBEMaC6BWGKRFH1YMQSoMJQ5wa9Bfs3KCKyg2NySQLxHrD2edcl">Maharlika Livelihood Complex in 2023</a>, Longid said. </p><p>He said he hopes gimmicks like using poems to help travelers and locals could boost the morale of his crew, especially as tourism ramps up in Baguio over the summer.</p><p>&quot;The crowding we expected last time was not what we anticipated. Maybe it would be the same this year but in case na may nakabasa sa mga itong storyang ito, we hope that we don&#x27;t suddenly find many missing slippers and sandals kasi nakikita ko sa comments na ay baka puwedeng mag-iwan ng sandals,&quot; Longid said. </p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s a fun experience for myself for my team. It&#x27;s really something that would boost our morale,&quot; he added.</p>
