In a computer-edited voice he says, “I’m a shih tzu. Of course, sumusuka ako ng dilaw ‘pag hindi nabibigay ang gusto kong pagkain.” </p><p>(Of course, I throw up yellow bile when I don’t get to eat what I want.)</p><p>Chopper is among several Filipino pets who are raking in hundreds of thousands of views online with their funny and cute videos. </p><p>The 2-year-old dog’s owners, Jona and EJ, said they “never planned to make it big” on social media. They only started uploading their pet’s antics online to save storage space in their devices. </p><p>“He&#x27;s our happy pill, and he always brings happiness to our lives. He&#x27;s always cute in our eyes so we take pictures or videos everyday. Our phone storage is always full… so we decided to create a page and Tiktok account to preserve Chopper&#x27;s precious memories,” said Jona, who declined to give her last name for privacy. </p><p>“We opted to make it public so he will be remembered by many. The clips in this series were viewed around 3.3 million times  on Tiktok alone. </p><p>“[Our social media journey] was no hardship at all… We are thankful for whatever we have now, and we don&#x27;t have plans in quitting ‘coz we want to record the life of Chopper,” <span id="isPasted" style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none">Jona</span> said.</p><p>“He&#x27;s part of the family. He&#x27;s our happiness.Hindi man sya nakakapagsalita, lahat ng body language nya, puro unconditional love lang,” she added. </p><p>Like Chopper’s family, the fur parents of another pet influencer, the cat Leet, had not intended to make him a social media star. </p><p>“I just posted random stuff,” said the British shorthair cat’s owner, Marti Pascual Salva. </p><p>Salva created the “President Leet” page on Facebook in the run-up to the 2022 presidential elections. At that time, the orange cat was featured in skits where he imitated election candidates. </p><p>“I wanted to make political posts on social media that mimic campaigns of other presidential candidates. That&#x27;s when we thought of adding the word ‘president’ on our page, where Leet would act like he runs as president,” Salva said. </p><p>The five-year-old Leet later gained popularity for his other videos, including his “spat” with another cat, “Ambassador Alien”, and his love affair with a female feline. We already accepted it because it&#x27;s part of life when you upload something in public,” she said. </p><p>Leet’s owner said it was also challenging to churn out daily content for the 100,000 followers of their Facebook page  while he goes to his day job.   </p><p>“We take long breaks from posting sometimes, but when we get the drive to create again, we come back,” Salva said.</p><p>Despite the challenges, Chopper and Leet’s families said their followers’ appreciation for their pets drives them to continue producing online content.</p><p>“My dream is for Leet and my other cats to be endorsers of brands that are not specifically made for pets. I imagine Leet endorsing a big telecommunications brand. It doesn&#x27;t seem far-fetched if you think that he got famous with the help of the internet,” Salva said. </p><p>“[We want to] fill the world with Chopper&#x27;s cuteness and paw-sitivity,” added <span id="isPasted" style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none">Jona. </span></p><div><br/></div>
