</style><p>Shipbuilders test a launch system for U.S. Navy aircraft by catapulting car-like structures into the James River in Virginia.</p><p>Video from Huntington Ingalls Industries shows the cars, weighing up to 80,000 pounds (36,287 kg) traveling at more than 150 miles (241.402 kilometers) per hour, flying over the bow of aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy before hitting the water.</p><p>According to the military shipbuilding company the cars are retrieved and relaunched to continue testing the electromagnetic aircraft launch system or EMALS.</p><p>The new method replaces the existing steam catapults on the U.S. Navy’s Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.</p><div><em>(Production: Pola Grzanka, Anna Lubowicka , Gerardo Gomez)</em></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div>
