The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) task force  has initial findings in its investigation of a resort built at the foot of the Chocolate Hills in Bohol.

DILG chief Benhur Abalos III said among the initial findings are the Sagbayan LGU granted a building permit to the Captain's Peak Garden Resort.

They were able to acquire the copy of the PAMB (Protected Areas Management Board) resolution allowing the establishment of the resort in Chocolate Hills, which was identified as a UNESCO Heritage site.

"Merong building permit na inisyu ang munisipyo ng Sagbayan pero ang isang requirement ay ang ECC na hindi naman pa naiisyu and number 3 yung tinatawag na PAMB (Protected Areas Management Board) resolution ito kinuha ko nga ngayon, meron silang PAMB na inaallow ito, nakuha ito ng ating team. Ang tanong dito ay ito bang PAMB resolution ay enough, ito ba ay tama na para magkaroon ng resort," ani ni Abalos.

(The Sagbayan municipality issued a building permit for the establishment of the resort. But the premises lack an ECC. We also acquired the PAMB resolution allowing the establishment of the building. The question here is if it's enough to build a resort in the area.)

The DILG will also coordinate with the Office of the Ombudsman, which also launched its own investigation on the issue.

Abalos will also ask PAMB to explain its side, as well as ask local government units to cooperate with the DILG task force, which consists of DILG legal and technical officers.

Abalos also inspected the resort, which has since been closed.
