Let us, therefore, demonstrate how purposeful behavior could achieve something great and worthy,&quot; Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla said in a release.</p><p>Lotilla said conserving energy by turning off lights, unplugging electronic devices when not in use, and carpooling could &quot;collectively make a substantial difference in our energy consumption and carbon footprint.&quot;</p><p>An annual symbolic lights-out event that started in Sydney in 2007, the Earth Hour has been embraced by Filipinos, the agency said.</p><p>&quot;In 2019, the Philippines registered the highest energy savings of 195.34 megawatts (MW) from the one-hour energy switch-off. This year, the DOE hopes to surpass this record.&quot;</p><p>Manila will host this year&#x27;s Earth Hour by switching off nonessential lights in its iconic landmarks, including the city clock tower and Rizal Monument, the DOE said.</p><p>Meanwhile, Okada Manila has announced that it will also participate in Earth Hour, &quot;aligning with millions globally for a critical cause.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Okada Manila will power down its exterior lighting and the fountain to observe Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. The hotel will also dim its lights in its Coral and Pearl lobbies, wellness centers (The Retreat Spa and The Sole Retreat), and other areas within the integrated resort,&quot; Okada said in a statement.</p><p>The hotel said it will also offer several complimentary features during its Earth Hour initiative.</p><p>&quot;To commemorate the Earth Hour, restaurant and hotel guests can savor complimentary beverages in our dining outlets and on the gaming floors. La Piazza, known for its exquisite Italian cuisine, will offer a special 3-course, sustainable dinner by candlelight. Additionally, Medley Buffet will feature a vegan station and Earth Hour-themed pastries.
