In a statement, Taguig said the park was under its jurisdiction and that the closure falls under its authority "to regulate any business, trade, or activity" within the city.

"The said park and garden, which has been effectively closed as a park by Makati and used as a garage for its heavy equipment and storage for various objects, is subject to Taguig’s jurisdiction which has the right to possess and administer the same notwithstanding Makati’s unlawful possession," it said.

Makati has said it owns the park located in Barangays West Rembo and Cembo, which were among 10 villages which the Supreme Court ruled were under the jurisdiction of Taguig.

Makati said its personnel prevented the entry of Taguig traffic officers in the park on Friday.

MAKATI VOWS TO 'PRESERVE OUR PROPERTY'

The Makati City government on Sunday said it would "take all necessary steps to protect and preserve our property."

Makati employees had been trapped inside the park as Taguig padlocked the park's gate, it said.

Makati also said that personnel from Taguig's public order and safety office have begun "massing up in front of the park" as it learned that they would "once again attempt to occupy Makati park."

"Should there be violence, it will be blood on Taguig’s hands," Makati said.

"Walang puwang ang ganitong asal sa ating makabagong lipunan. The Taguig authorities should be censured by the concerned national agencies."
