MANILA -- The Makati police seized P3.5 million worth of &quot;shabu&quot; during the first quarter of the year, with the Makati City government vowing on Wednesday to strengthen its drug fight and maintain the momentum.In a statement, the city said the figure was from a total of 510 grams of shabu confiscated in drug busts, which led to the arrest of 35 pushers and 132 users.&quot;The city government of Makati lauds the city police force for their hard work and dedication to duty. I exhort them to further intensify their efforts to eradicate the drug menace and strengthen collaboration with the city and other stakeholders towards establishing drug-free communities,&quot; Makati Mayor Abby Binay said in a statement.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/01/04/24/philippines-says-27000-villages-cleared-of-drug-menace">READ: Philippines says 27,000 villages cleared of drug menace</a></div>&quot;The sustained performance of the Makati Police does justice to the city’s substantial investments in strengthening their crimefighting and emergency response capabilities,&quot; she added.Aside from this, Binay lauded authorities for the arrest of 83 wanted persons.The local government said the city has implemented several programs to complement its drug fight, such as the education campaigns, advocacy promotion for students, out-of-school youth, and seminars for parents.&quot;Seminar-workshops have been conducted for police officers to ensure the proper conduct of buy-bust operations and strict adherence to procedures to promote the successful prosecution of drug cases,&quot; the statement read.
