MANILA -- Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday thanked President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for his continued trust amid the tension between the former and First Lady Liza Marcos.

In a statement, the Vice President assured she will continue her mandate as the appointed secretary of the Department of Education.

Marcos Jr. earlier said the Vice President would remain in his Cabinet despite suggestions that she should be replaced following the admission of ill feelings of the First Lady toward Duterte.

"I don’t see the reason behind that [replacement]," Marcos told reporters.

"It will not affect our working relationship with the Vice President, Secretary of Education," he added.

In an interview with TV personality Anthony Taberna on Friday, the First Lady said she felt hurt over the Vice President's reaction after her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, accused President Marcos of drug use.

The elder Duterte later walked his remarks back.
