MANILA — The House of Representatives on Monday expressed its profound condolences to the family of Cavite 4th District Representative Elpidio Barzaga Jr., who died last April 27.

The lower chamber adopted House Resolution 1691, which described Barzaga as “one of the most loved and respected members of the House of Representatives”.

Ginagawa ‘yung documentations na kailangan ibalik ‘yung yumaong congressman dito sa Piipinas,” House Speaker Martin Romualdez said in a press briefing.

“Kapag bumalik, we will express our condolences and pay our respects. Pero may wishes din ang pamilya, so we will observe that and kagaya sa mga kaso na may namatay na isang congressman, we can also act as the caretaker for the district,” he added.

“Malapit na ang eleksyon. One more year to the elections. So we will have a caretakership agreement for the district for the time being,” Romualdez noted.

The flag at the House of Representatives was also lowered to half-mast.
