MANILA (UPDATED) -- The president of transport group Manibela said Sunday that they are planning to file a counter charge against the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for alleged altercations that happened during their protest outside the House of Representatives.

"'Yung 100 meters away dapat 'yung kapulisan, talagang nakadikit, hinahampas, pinapalo 'yung ating mga kasamahan. Kung makakuha kami ng kopya nitong reklamo, magka-counter charge po kami sa Ombudsman at Commission on Human Rights," Mar Valbuena said on TeleRadyo Serbisyo's Story Outlook.

The QCPD earlier announced that it filed a complaint against Valbuena and two others for the said protest.

"Wala pa kaming natatanggap na kahit anong reklamo kasi hindi namin alam kung saan ba nila ito inadress. Baka nililigaw kami. Mayroon din kaming constitutional rights na pwede kaming mag-assemble, mayroon kaming freedom of speech," he said.

When asked why they did not apply for a permit to protest outside the House of Representatives, Valbuena said it was futile to do so since they believe no permits will still be given anyway.

He also questioned why the QCPD filed raps against them for protesting since they did not experience this when they protested in other cities.

He added that future protests are still in talks but will still depend on how the LTFRB and Department of Transportation acts on the issue of jeepney phaseouts this week.
