MANILA (UPDATED) —  The last of the 4 respondents convicted in the serious illegal detention case filed by Vhong Navarro has surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The NBI on Thursday said Ferdinand Guerrero surrendered to NBI director Medardo De Lemos.

De Lemos personally went to the office of Guerrero’s lawyer to take custody of the fugitive.

“I have surrendered everything to the Lord… God is in control. God loves us. I’ve surrendered to the Lord” said Guerrero.

Guerrero, along with Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, and Simeon Raz were found guilty in the case filed by Navarro.

According to De Lemos, Guerrero started sending feelers last week after they asked Lee to mediate.

“Sinabihan ko si Cedric Lee na tawagan niya ang kaibigan niya na kung pwede sumuko sa amin. At nagkaroon sila ng paguusap, hindi na kami nakialam doon,” De Lemos said.

Guerrero also apologized to the Taguig court for his absence during the case’s promulgation, citing his medical condition. Guerrero’s lawyer explained that his client’s absence could jeopardize his right to appeal the conviction.

Cornejo, Lee, and Raz have all been admitted to prison facilities following their surrender earlier this month. —With reports from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
