HEAVY RAINS
On Sunday, heavy rains of up to 200 mm could arrive in Quezon while Aurora, the eastern portion of Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Metro Manila, and Camarines Norte may experience 100-200 mm of rainfall.
Some 50-100 mm of rain could hit the eastern portion of Isabela, Nueva Ecija, the rest of Bulacan, the eastern portion of Pampanga, the rest of Calabarzon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Burias Island, the western portion of Camarines Sur, Cuyo Islands, Aklan, and Antique.
By Monday, the eastern portion of Isabela, the northern portion of Aurora, and Polillo Islands could receive 50-100 mm of rain.
"Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely," PAGASA warned.
STORM SURGE, GALE WARNING
PAGASA said there is "minimal to moderate risk" of storm surge in exposed and low-lying coastal areas of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay (west coast), Burias Island, mainland Masbate (northwest coast), and Aklan within the next 24 hours.
The agency also warned that sea travel is "risky" for small vessels and all motorbancas of any type in the coastal waters of Marinduque, Quezon, the southern coastal waters of Batangas, and the northern coastal waters of Camarines Norte due to Aghon.
PATH AND STRENGTH FORECAST
Aghon is predicted to cross the mainland Calabarzon and Polillo Islands in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.
It could reach the waters off the east coast of Quezon or Aurora by Sunday night or Monday early morning and would "likely remain" a tropical storm.
Weakening into a tropical depression while over mainland Calabarzon is not ruled out because of land interaction, PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, Aghon is forecast to intensify into a severe tropical storm on Tuesday, and reaching the typhoon category within the Philippine area of responsibility is not ruled out, PAGASA said, "although it will most likely happen far from the landmass."
Aghon could be out of the Philippine area on Wednesday.
- Camarines Sur
