MANILA — Come July, 300,000 more households will be included in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Food Stamp Program, according to an agency official.

During Wednesday’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon event, DSWD Undersecretary Edu Punay said they are preparing for the national full scale implementation of the said project in July where beneficiaries from 10 regions and 21 provinces will receive monthly food credits.

The department recently finished a six-month pilot program in Tondo, Manila while other sites will finish their program in June.

During the pilot implementation, beneficiaries were also taught about malnutrition and how to solve this problem, aside from receiving skills training.

“Ito po ang flagship ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na layuning tulungan ang ating mga kababayang mahirap na nakakaranas ng food insecurity o matinding gutom,” Punay said.

Another 300,000 beneficiaries are targeted for 2025, and 400,000 beneficiaries in 2026. DSWD hopes to help a total of 1 million Filipinos within three years.
