MANILA — The Supreme Court has created an additional and easier way of reporting allegedly corrupt judges and lawyers through an email address that is directly accessible to Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

The high court said information may be sent to integrity@judiciary.gov.ph which can also be accessed by the Ethics Committee led by the Chief Justice as the Chairperson and Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen as Vice Chairperson.

The move of the Supreme Court follows the recent suspension of a Pasay City judge and court officer on bribery issues.

The Supreme Court said violations that could be reported include extortion of money, gift or favor for process like warrants, summons, writs of execution; extortion to gain inside information on any case; and any influence peddler who claims influence in any court, among others.

“The public however is reminded that as such reported information may be used as basis for entrapment operations, premature posting on social media may undermine efforts to investigate and prosecute violators,” the SC said.
